The Commission is Completed
Today was Installation Day for RARE CURRENT
Twelve feet of floral lace!
It was a glorious fall morning with sunshine coming up over Foshee Tower, into the thirteenth floor of the US Bank Building, in downtown Minneapolis.
In case you have not been following along, RARE CURRENT was commissioned by Tiffany Hanken Design for Eide Bailly as part of their Minneapolis office renovation by HGA Architects. It is a beautiful office, with lovely textures, great geometry, quiet colors…that was in need of a flashy artwork for the entry that had softer textures and a few quiet surprises. Alycia Rubio, of Tiffany Hanken Design, found me. With lots of input from Alexis Fenno and the managers and partners of Eide Bailly, RARE CURRENT was born!
Today, Brent Thompson and Abby Bulger helped wrangle things around under my direction. You can see the installation map I made. Each floral element had a numbered, assigned spot in the design. They were marked with green tape and bagged by section. Each part was installed with staples. The installation of RARE CURRENT began with section 3 and worked outward in both directions. In the third photo, Abby and Brent are folding up the map…which will go in my archives! In the last photo, you can see the designer in charge of the process, Alycia Rubio (from Tiffany Hanken Design), Abby, and Brent wielding paint markers to camouflage the staples.
It was an exciting, fulfilling morning! I think we are all pleased with the result!
