How Digital Art Is Made For The Winter Exhibition
It’s time for a story… I made the decision to join ODETTA Digital art on the SHIM Art Network just as the virus hit. This was around the same time most in-person art viewing was shutting down. I am still grateful and happy in doing so.
If you don’t already know, the way I craft my art involves both personal planning and creativity and also computer assisting. I put together the color combinations and style of stitching. Then, I load the information into the digital framework which generates the patterns to bring things to life.
More About How To View the ODETTA Digital Art Pieces
The Pandemic Proof exhibition was actually my very first time working with ODETTA Digital. Since this initial joining, I have only been to the museum once! It is unfortunately waiting to reopen once again to both visitors and artists alike. It’s almost as though the anticipation is palpable! The first day that the showcase begins is on December 11th 2020.
Who’s Ready To See How Digital Art Is Made Through Other Artist’s Pieces?
I am not sure about you, but I’m ready this time! Even if you are unable to view it at opening, you have a great deal of time. This is because the show itself is on through March 11th, 2021. I am hearing there may be a delay in getting all the images online for ESSENTIAL WORKS. However, I have faith they will pull it together at the final moments as many of us do. Regardless of the release, the winter exhibition with ODETTA Digital Art is sure to please.
The Way To Present Digital Art
The online showcase itself permits each artist to submit 4 of their select pieces. My four artworks join about 52 other inspiring artists and their artworks of choice. It’s so easy to scroll through and view the works and admire on the ODETTA website. In addition to mine, you’re sure to discover something to delight your artistic liking. Tune in to view a broad exhibition of prized artwork in all sorts of media. You can go check out this exhibit here!
Folds and color. Color and folds. Add in tri-lobal embroidery thread and the color shift magnifies. The thread acts almost like a prism, refracting the colors so that a single thread of blue may appear to be several shades of blue. Add folds and curves and the color shifts are magnified even more. Joyous and exciting and always surprising.
Chromatic Flutter is a three-dimensional wall work…a rainbow that sinuously moves across the wall, nearly taking flight! It is vibrant, exciting, yet paradoxically peaceful.

Studio life is full of quiet surprises and unforeseen challenges. Materials, machinery and operators all have independent will, it would seem, and independent opportunities to perform the unexpected. This piece was born of all three. I walked away from the machine that shook loose some screws and shifted the material in the hoop, presenting me with a new unforeseen outcome of utter beauty!
Folds Unfurled is a lovely wall hanging, reminiscent of kimonos and far away, mythical places where inner-peace is the norm.

Digital embroidery allows the artist to modulate color and bend light through the angles and the layering of the stitched. When put in the hands of a sculptor, the actual objects can be structured, folded and formed to occupy both real and illusory space.
