Description

Scatter is a quixotically rigid sculpture built from individual elements.  But,  is utterly flexible in its installation!  Each element is a rigid flower form made of digital embroidered lace.  This style of embroidery is called free-standing lace, or FSL.  FSL has to be designed to lock together without underlying cloth.  It is a bit of a feat, requiring knowledge of materials and structures.

This piece can be installed as shown, with each element stapled to the wall.  Or it can be just as successfully displayed scattered on the floor or the table.  The elements are fairly sturdy and can be tossed around like playthings.
