Bioluminescent Disarray?

Thanksgiving is nearly here and the 2024 US presidential election is done.
It is a time a transition and disarray for all of us all across the political spectrum.
So what do I do in response?
I make art that looks deeply into the disarray and creates mystery and beauty, because, in the end…what else have we?
The objects and experiences we find beautiful do vary, but we all have aesthetic experiences, moments of wonder and transcendence…those time we say,”Ahhhh…”
Those moments are so necessary! They help us cope! My moments come from making and looking at art, sitting quietly in meditation and prayer and walking in nature, giggling with friends. Yours might be the perfect hockey goal, the hopefulness of readying the swing swing of the bat at the plate, waxing your car, snuggling a baby, petting a dog, having a beer with friends…Surrounded by disarray, these moments and others like them still exist and must be paid attention to. These transcendent experiences help us all deal with the “Too muchness” of the world.
So, I keep making, finishing, photographing and exhibiting art! The Bioluminescence series finds beauty in the disarray of the warming oceans, where ecosystems change as the water warms.

So, I will continue to spend as much time as possible in my studio with my “Studio Dog,” Huckleberry. He and I will continue to seek transcendent experiences while building community in our neighborhood.
