Description

Ciborium – Triptych

A modest sculpture with an exalted attitude! A Ciborium is a decorative, luxurious container for the “host” on the altar during Catholic Mass. It made me think about what the ritual luxury might mean about faith, history, doubt, power. How does this fit into the history of the Jesus who served the frailest among us? How does it relate to the socialist Catholic Workers Movement? I have no answers to those questions. But this sumptuous object delights as well as indicts.

This one in the series of Ciborium is peeled open, showing its lowly sources/materials.
