Description

Women, in the days of the southern cotillion, could communicate and tell stories through how they held their fans : fully open, fully closed, partially revealed. Something about the spring and lift of this sculptural piece reminded me of a fan about to change its message.

Digital embroidery allows the artist to modulate color and bend light through the angles and the layering of the stitched. When put in the hands of a sculptor, the actual objects can be structured, folded and formed to occupy both real and illusory space.

Sculpture: Digital, Fabric, Textile on Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Wood, Other.
