IT’S COVID-19 TIME, in which weeks pass in a day and a day takes weeks.
TIME TO JUGGLE AGAIN!

It is admittedly hard to develop flow in the studio when I have to stop and “juggle” again!

I was very pleased a few weeks ago when a long-planned for the show was approved to open in August in Tallahassee, Florida.  The state was opening up and so was 621 Gallery, with COVID-19 safety guidelines in place.  The show is 3/4 packed and scheduled for pick-up in a couple of weeks.

But COVID-19 has its own sense of time.  Florida has now exploded with the virus again, the show has been delayed indefinitely again and I will take all these perfectly packed boxes back to storage, making more room to work in the studio.

I had planned to write about self-care today. About maintaining your sleep as well as you can, eating well, exercising, petting the dog, meditating and dancing, talking to friends, zoom-calling far and wide, noticing beauty, practicing gratitude.  And, I have done all these things already today.  These are not platitudes.  They are actions, behaviors that are under our control.

We do all live with the illusion that we can predict our next steps.  That is actually a healthy stance because chaos is really hard on our little “pea-brains.”  SO:  I will pull up my big girl pants and go forward.

What Does Forward Look Like?

Well, I have this lovely addition to my garden. No, it is not a bong or an extraterrestrial.  It is a hydroponic farm from Lettuce Grow.  What you see here is 1 week of Minnesota growth!  It is late in the season, getting really hot, but things are growing great guns without wilting or burning.  I can move it inside in the cold season and continue growing things.  That excites me.  I have not gardened since my knees got bad around 30 years ago!  I am so loving this!  Each day the growth is visible, lovely, and delicious. I plan to pick some greens from it tonight to add to my salad harvested from the raised bed.

The studio is actually percolating along well.  It too is showing healthy growth! I have probably 4 major sculptural embroidery pieces in the works.  This is just one of them.  I put it away today to work on the boxes.  But COVID-19 had other ideas about how I should spend my time.  And next month I will begin a course that will help me refine my mission and goals.  Stay tuned, because you know I will share the results with you, my friends.
